About Me
Art has been a constant in my life since childhood. Growing up in Germany, I would transform my bedroom into imaginative spaces, like an indoor treehouse made of hand-painted paper leaves that I attached to the ceiling. This creative drive led me to pursue fine arts as one of my major subjects for my Abitur - the German equivalent of Advanced Placement coursework in American high schools.
After graduation, inspired by my late father's stories of his travels in Australia, I decided to experience the country for myself. What was meant to be a short trip turned into a decade-long stay that allowed me to travel and explore that part of the continent widely. During this time, painting became more than just creative expression - it provided a mental sanctuary during challenging periods of my life.
A chance encounter while playing video games online led me to meet my now-husband, ultimately bringing me to Des Moines, Iowa in 2015. Though it took some time to establish a regular painting routine in my new home, I've since created several larger pieces that have found their place on our walls.
Today, I work from my home studio, primarily with fluid acrylics. I'm drawn to this medium because while I can choose my color palette, there's always an element of surprise in how the paints interact. My work tends toward abstraction, often incorporating subtle colors, negative space, and occasional silhouetted figures. I find joy in watching colors intermix and create unexpected formations on the canvas.
Recently, encouragement from friends - especially the community at artisrad.com - has inspired me to share my work more widely. When I'm not painting, you might find me rock climbing, gaming, or reading. I'm excited to make art an even larger part of my life moving forward.
My experiences and travels across the globe inform my work, and I invite viewers to pause and find their own narrative within it.
